Top 10 Most Horrific Sports Injuries
I’ve put together a collection of the top 10 nastiest sports injuries I could find on youtube. Check it out.
Warning: Seriously, these are nasty. Don’t watch unless you’re into this sort of thing.
1.Redskins QB Joe Theismann is sacked by Lawrence Taylor and suffers a compound fracture of the leg
Probably the most infamous. Taylor has said that he has never seen a film of the play and never wants to. Forced Theismann into retirement at the age of 36. Seems to be doing ok now–ok enough at least to make our Top 10 Awkward Interview list.
2. Villanova guard Allen Ray gets his eye poked out
Ur, that’s the appearance. In reality, his eyelid apparently just went behind the eye giving the appearance of the eyeball coming out of the socket. He was back on the court less than a week later, and led Villanova in scoring his first game back.
3.Sabres goalie Clint Malarchuk gets his external carotid artery in his neck sliced open by a skate
Don’t watch if you don’t like the site of blood. The announcers clearly didn’t, as didn’t many of the spectators–apparently several fainted and two suffered heart attacks. Two teammates also vomited on the ice from the site. Fun stuff!
4. Miami RB Willis McGahee suffers broken leg from helmet on knee impact
After extensive surgery to the many torn ligaments in his knee, McGahee impressively came back after this and continues to play to this day, currently for the Baltimore Ravens. He also apparently continues to father many children out of wed-lock, or so says wikipedia.
5. Kickboxer breaks leg and tries unsuccessfully to stand on it
His leg looks like rubber. This one is the hardest for me to watch.
6. Raiders Napolean McCallum gets knee bent completely the wrong way
Actually, I think this is my new “hardest to watch”. Knee was bent so badly his foot was said to have touched his groin and an artery in his leg was ruptured.
7.Figure staker Jessica Dube slashed across the face by partner’s skate
I can’t help but find this a little funny? I guess cause you don’t really see anything. Also it’s figure-skating.
8. Olympic Javelin thrower impales judge
I thought one more humorous one was needed after the Napolean vid.
9. Pro-wrestler Sid Vicious breaks legs in the ring
10. Tennis player Mary Pierce tears ACL
Not up there with the others. Just makes the list for the screaming. Oh, how I love the sound of a woman screaming. Music to my ears.
